This flamenco guitar was made by the firm Hermanos Conde in Madrid, the year 1977. It is a guitar known as “segunda” regarding the kinds of wood used in its construction, which do not have the same quality as the “primera” guitars or concert guitars. Regardless of this, there were many professionals at that time who used this guitars given the closer sound, sometimes comparable to “primera” guitars but at a more reasonable price.
The woods have a surprisingly high quality, particulary bearing in mind the fact that we are talking about a second class guitar. The German spruce top has got an excellent grain, very marked and even all along its surface, the cypress in back and sides is of straight cut, totally homogeneous, a very selected woods and a drying process and optimal healing.
The sound of this flamenco guitar is really incredible, even for a “second class” guitar, it gives off a quality of sound and a volume superior to many of other first class guitars of the same firm that we have tried over these years. The basses are very powerful and bright but deep at the same time, the trebles are crystalline and clear, with great projection and sustain.
Although the neck is slightly bent, we have preferred not to repair it, as this type of restoration is done with the aim of solving the discomfort that the height of the strings on the fretboard produces in the left hand, a height that in the case of this guitar does not bother in any way thanks to the smoothness of its touch and tension, resulting in a surprisingly comfortable guitar for both hands.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is very good, the head was cracked and later repaired.
