Flamenco guitar Conde Hermanos 1980 “Pozuelo”

This flamenco guitar was built by the Conde Hermanos workshop of Madrid in 1980. This model was crafted in the Pozuelo de Alarcón workshop by the firm’s craftsmen and later distributed to the Gravina and Atocha stores. It belonged to the so-called “third-grade” guitars, a classification that referred to the selection of woods used in their construction, distinguishing them from the “first-grade” or concert models.

However, this designation should not be misleading. Many professional guitarists of the time used these instruments because they offered a sound remarkably close to, and sometimes comparable with, that of the top-tier models, but at a significantly more affordable price.

The woods used in this flamenco guitar are of surprisingly high quality, especially considering its original classification. The German spruce soundboard features a straight and even grain throughout its entire surface. The cypress used for the back and sides is equally straight and uniform, carefully selected and perfectly seasoned over time.

This flamenco guitar produces a beautiful sound with a quality capable of competing with instruments costing considerably more, offering an outstanding value for money. Guitars from this period are regarded as true benchmarks in the world of flamenco guitar making. Whether first, second or third grade, they share a distinctive tonal identity that has captivated generations of guitarists and transports us directly to one of the most brilliant eras in the history of flamenco.

The guitar also features an impeccable setup. The string action is perfectly adjusted, providing exceptional comfort in both hands and allowing for a smooth and natural playing experience, whether for solo performance or accompaniment.

Its overall condition is excellent. At some point in its history, the headstock shape was modified and the body received a general refinishing of the lacquer. Beyond these interventions, the instrument shows no cracks, splits, or structural repairs of any kind.
