This flamenco guitar was made by the master luthier Domingo Esteso´s nephews in the emblematic workshop in 7 Gravina Street. This workshop was owned by Faustino and Mariano Conde. Lots of great performers have been in this workshop. For example, Paco de Lucía, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, Cepero, Pepe Habichuela, and so many others.
The different woods in this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top are made of german spruce has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent.
This flamenco guitar belonged to a great guitar lover: a guitarist from Madrid who lived the golden age of flamenco in town (the 70s), and acquired it directly at the legendary store at Gravina Street, in 1973.
A guitar with really special sound, and astonishing volume, as well as this highly valued timbre, typical of the very best guitars of this firm from Madrid, which reminds us of the legendary black-and-white videos of maestro Paco de Lucia, playing in the kitchen some soleas, tarantas, bulerías… A true gem we are really happy to have.
The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the height of strings in saddle and fingerboard is very reduced. The height on the fret 12 is 2,0 mm, thereby ensuring an extraordinary level of comfort.
Its condition is really good. It has a crack on the back, perfectly repaired, as shown in the images attached. The nitrocellulose varnish has been replaced without altering the original thickness of the wood.
