Flamenco guitar Javier Castaño 2019 (Mechanical pegs)

This flamenco guitar was made by Javier Castaño in 2019. Javier Castaño was born in Madrid in 1974. Aged 14, he was really skilled, and his playing, really touching. When he was 22, he started his career as a guitar maker, taking several courses with Maestro Rafael López Porras, in Cádiz. In 2008 he completely devoted himself to the Madrid school. It is now when his career as a guitar maker takes a whole new direction, acquiring the knowledge and technique from this school of maestros. In 2014 he began working directly with the firm Conde Hermanos, in Atocha Street, shaping and providing the instrument with Julio Conde´s sound.

The chosen woods for this flamenco guitar are German spruce for the top, with a completely straight and even grain, and cypress for back and sides, a very selected woods and a drying process and optimal healing.

Specially remarkable has to be the headstock: a traditional one, but with an internal mechanism, making accurate tuning possible, without the disadvantages of the old wooden headstocks, combining thus the beauty of the latter with the accuracy and convenience of the modern mechanical headstock.

This flamenco guitar was the trigger of the beginning of a commercial relationship with this master guitar maker. Since 2019 we have appreciated an enormous leap in quality, both in sound and construction, which has positioned Javier Castaño as one of the main artisans of current Spanish guitar making. His sound perfectly represents the school from Madrid: a very flamenco but versatile timbre with a very noticeable and deep bass, accompanied by very open trebles and a considerable sustain.

The tension is medium, very comfortable for both hands, due to the reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any kind of cracks or repairs whatsoever.
