This classical guitar was built by the renowned Guitarras José Ramírez in 1964, one of the firm’s most prolific periods, when guitarists from all over the world — both classical and flamenco players — visited their workshop, including Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Narciso Yepes, Serranito and many others.

This exceptional guitar combines some of the most prestigious woods used in traditional Spanish lutherie. The German spruce top provides fast response, outstanding definition and an incredible richness of nuances, while the Brazilian rosewood back delivers depth, sustain and extraordinary harmonic complexity. Its exclusive double-side construction system, built with a combination of cypress and Brazilian rosewood, creates an extremely resonant and stable acoustic body, blending the immediacy and liveliness of cypress with the power, projection and tonal richness of Brazilian rosewood.

The guitar bears the initials P.C., indicating that it was built by master luthier Pedro Contreras.

Acoustically, this guitar stands out for its absolutely extraordinary projection, producing a wide, powerful and highly expressive sound. Every note responds with remarkable speed and clarity, offering impeccable note separation and exceptional harmonic richness. The basses are deep and enveloping, the midrange warm and expressive, and the trebles bright and elegant, maintaining perfect balance throughout the entire register. It is an instrument with enormous dynamic capacity, capable of delivering the most delicate nuances as well as impressive power without ever losing definition or musicality.

Guitars from this period by the Ramírez workshop are truly difficult to find. The craftsmanship is simply flawless in every respect: finishes, setup, woods and overall construction. Observing the construction details and the exceptional sound quality, it is easy to understand why the Ramírez workshop became for many years one of the leading and most internationally respected names in Spanish guitar making.

Although the string action is slightly higher than usual for a flamenco guitar, due to the instrument originally being built for classical playing, it is worth highlighting the remarkable ease of playability and soft touch for both hands, making it extremely comfortable and effortless for any guitarist. It should also be noted that this guitar could easily be adapted for flamenco playing by lowering the saddle height.

The guitar remains in excellent and fully original condition, with no cracks or repairs of any kind.
