Antonio Rey, along with the drummer Paquito González: “DOS PARTES DE MI”

Last 26 October 2017 we had Antonio Rey at Solera Flamenca studio again. After the recent release of his fourth album, titled “Dos partes de mi”, we are delighted to enjoy and immortalize one of the songs in this album in our library.

In this visit we had the chance to enjoy his music not only during the recording, but also his concert in Palau de la Musica, which we had the privilege to attend. The artist performed wonderfully, as expected, and definitely moved his audience, who gave in to him and managed to leave the unstable Catalan political atmosphere behind for some time.

We remind the reader that this new young guitarist is one of the most representative figures of the current flamenco guitar scene. After a long career as usual guitarist of flamenco’s great figures singing both as dancing (Farruquito, Antonio Canales, La Tana, Manuela Carrasco, Rafael Amargo… among many others), it is now when his guitar, on merit, takes center stage and shows us the true artist, a gifted man with the instrument, of exceptional musical maturity and a unique expression ability.

It is a real privilege for us to enjoy the art of this genius. Antonio is a virtuoso of the guitar, indeed. His technique, confidence and accuracy when playing are the result of his full-time commitment to his job. However, his innate gifts for playing this instrument play a part, as well. Hard work and talent: a combination which results in an extremely versatile guitarist, who has earned the respect and admiration of the audience and guitarists of the whole world.

On that occasion, apart from enjoying Antonio Rey’s guitar, we had the pleasure of counting on a luxury collaborator: Paquito González. The drummer Paquito González got initiated with Maestro Manolo Sanlúcar, and ever since his box-drum has accompanied artists as important as Vicente Amigo, Joaquín Grilo, Miguel Poveda… and a long etcetera. He has a great sense of rhythm and good taste to accompany the artist, respecting the musicality, interacting and keeping the dialogue with the melody and the performer. All of this makes him one of the most prestigious and representative drummers of flamenco panorama nowadays.

In this recording, Maestro Antonio Rey thrills us with a bulería named just like the album: “Dos partes de mi”: An excellent composition where beautiful melodies and superb technique come together. Resources like the arpeggio get a special protagonism, exhibited in an incredibly fast and dynamic way. A video recorded with a guitar by craftsmen Jesús de Jiménez 2017, an incredible guitar, made by one of the best guitar makers nowadays, with incredible sound, and a powerful flamenco touch, just like our protagonist’s talent. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!
