This flamenco guitar has been made by the well-known guitar maker Manuel Bellido, one of the most popular luthiers in Granada. His guitars have been enjoyed on stages all over the world, with both classical and flamenco performers.
This flamenco guitar has been built with carefully selected woods: the top is made of German spruce, with a straight, even and very marked grain along its whole surface. The back and sides are made of Paloescrito wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty. Palo escrito is a variety of rosewood with a greater hardness than other more common varieties such as Indian rosewood or Brazilian rosewood. Its characteristics make it an extremely interesting wood to make flamenco guitars, as it is capable of enhancing the bass, provides greater acoustic projection and has a quick response capacity.
Specially remarkable has to be the headstock: a traditional one, but with an internal mechanism, making accurate tuning possible, without the disadvantages of the old wooden headstocks, combining thus the beauty of the latter with the accuracy and convenience of the modern mechanical headstock.
This guitar has a really special timbre. It emits a lot of volume with an extraordinary sound quality, which makes it perfect to be used both as a concert guitar and as an accompaniment for singing and dancing.
As it also happens to artists, achieving a sound with character, capable of standing out from the others, is probably the most difficult virtue for a guitar craftsman to achieve. There are many craftsmen who build magnificent guitars with excellent acoustic performance but very few succeed at providing them with their own personality. Undoubtedly Manuel Bellido is one of the main representatives of guitar making in Granada and, with his impeccable and long career, he has contributed to defining and maintaining that particular “Andalusian guitar” timbre that identifies this beautiful Spanish city.
The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the heights of the strings in fingerboard and saddle are perfect, providing us with such a high degree of comfort that one will be delighted.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any kind of cracks or repairs whatsoever.
