Flamenco guitar Manuel de la Chica 1962

This flamenco guitar is made by Maestro Manuel de la Chica, regarded as the most important guitar maker Granada so far. His style and sound quality have been often compared to Maestro Marcelo Barbero’s guitars, as they worked together on some guitars Santos Hernández left unfinished when passing away. In 1973, already a renowned guitar maker, he had no choice but to leave his occupation, due to health complications caused by the inhalation of dust and chemicals. His guitars are recognized and praised by collectors, guitar makers and guitarists all around the world.

The woods have a surprisingly high quality, particulary bearing in mind the fact that we are talking about a second class guitar. The German spruce top has got an excellent grain, very marked and even all along its surface, the cypress in back and sides is of straight cut, totally homogeneous, a very selected woods and a drying process and optimal healing.

What is really shocking to us about this flamenco guitar is its strong and very marked character. It has exceptional volume and sound quality, and playing it creates such a special atmosphere , owing to its particularly “hollow” timbre, which will leave nobody left indifferent, allowing to tell it from the rest of guitars.

This flamenco guitar has got mid-soft tension. The height of the strings in the fingerboard and saddle is very balanced, providing us with a high level of comfort for both hands, as well as simplicity for the performance itself.

A flamenco guitar with the sound quality and the comfort this genius craftsman has always instilled into his works of art. In this guitar, it is definitely worth mentioning its extremely accurate adjustment, in its heights as well as tuning and tension, all of which make it a really easy to play guitar. In fact, we are convinced any single professional guitarist could take it and perform a concert with it, without any previous warm up to get familiar with the instrument.

Such level of accuracy in the adjustments provide the guitar with really expressive flamenco timbre, with this strumming touch of and clarity, perfectly balanced, so valuable and hard to find in other makers´ guitars.
