Modesto Borreguero guitars

Modesto Borreguero, born in Madrid in 1892, was a prominent guitar maker. At the age of 12, he began his apprenticeship in the workshop of Manuel Ramírez, one of the most prestigious luthiers of the time. After Ramírez’s death in 1916, Borreguero continued working in his workshop, but in 1923 he opened his own business on Duque de Fernán Núñez Street. His fame grew, exporting guitars to South America and gaining recognition for his skill in building both concert guitars and popular instruments like lutes and bandurrias. After the Spanish Civil War, he became a respected luthier in Madrid, even collaborating with ONCE. He passed away in 1969 after a long career dedicated to his craft.
