This guitar was made by the luthier Enrique Sanfeliu in 1922. Enrique Sanfeliu was born in Valencia in 1882. After listening to Francisco Tárrega play, he decided to devote his life to the guitar, not only as an interpreter, but also as a maker. He studied with Manuel Loscos, Tárrega´s disciple, and his studies rekindled his desire to make his own guitars. Later, he would move to Barcelona to work at Juan Estruch´s guitar workshop. Enrique Sanfeliu befriended Enrique García, who shared his making method with Sanfeliu, deeply influencing him as a luthier.
This guitar is made with extraordinarily high quality woods, which is remarkable, to say the least, if we bear in mind the date of its making, when high quality woods were really hard to find. It has a making system based on Santos Hernández´s school (1st period) and its neck, quite particular, provides this instrument with excellent comfort in every sense.
The sound coming out of this guitar is absolutely marvellous. One can hear its surrounding sound and a very particular scope, thanks to the inner sounding board. Enrique Sanfeliu´s guitars have a really emotional sound, with unmatched sweetness and warmth.
Its condition is really good, presents several cracks repaired and documented on the attached images. The fingerboard and frets were replaced by master luthier Marcelino López Nieto.
