Flamenco guitar Francisco Barba 1970 EX-Pepe Habichuela

This flamenco guitar was built by master luthier Francisco Barba in 1970. Considered one of the finest guitar makers in the world, his guitars have been praised and played by luthiers, collectors, and guitarists such as Niño de Pura, Manuel Molina, Rafael Riqueni, Pepe Habichuela, among many others.

This particular guitar also holds a very special historical and artistic value, as it belonged to the maestro Pepe Habichuela and was one of his favorite guitars — an instrument with a truly unique personality and authentic flamenco soul. READ ARTICLE

This flamenco guitar has been built using woods of exceptional quality. The german spruce top features a perfect grain: straight, even, and strongly defined across its entire surface; the back and sides are made from cypress of outstanding beauty and quality. The purfling details and overall craftsmanship are simply flawless.

This flamenco guitar is truly extraordinary and highly special. Its sound projection, the depth and richness of its flamenco tone, together with the immense personality it radiates, make it an instrument that is difficult to describe with words. Its rasgueado has impressive strength and response, while the balance of the basses in terms of depth and brightness is absolutely exceptional. The trebles are bright, precise, and full of harmonics, delivering an inspiring and nuanced sound. Its tone also reveals that particular hollow, aged, and authentic character that only great flamenco guitars develop after decades of evolution and maturation.

The action of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the string height at both the fingerboard and saddle is perfectly balanced, providing outstanding comfort for both hands.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent, with no cracks or repairs of any kind. In 2012, it was very lightly French-polished by luthier Maximiano Fontiveros, who carried out an extremely respectful and conservative restoration, fully preserving the original wood thickness as well as the instrument’s authentic essence, response, and acoustic personality.

The guitar will be delivered with a certificate confirming that it belonged to the maestro Pepe Habichuela.
