This classical guitar was built in the legendary guitar-maker’s workshop Domingo Esteso, in 7th Gravina Street, Madrid, the year 1926. This luthier was one of the most distinguished disciples of Manuel Ramirez along with Santos Hernandez and Enrique Garcie, with who he shared the workshop in that time. In the year 1915 he decided to open his own workshop in 7th Gravina Street, where the most relevant figures of that time’s flamenco guitar were regulars. Domingo Esteso died in the year 1937 and is considered as one of the most important guitar-makers in Spanish guitar history.
The different kinds of wood picked for this guitar are really exclusive, impossible to find nowadays. The German spruce top shows a truly smooth grain, straight and uniform through the entire surface. The Brazilian rosewood of the back and sides is really smooth and with wonderful chocolate-like tone. The edging work details and finishing are simply perfect.
This classical guitar is an unprecedented unique piece in the whole world. It was made by Domingo Esteso in 1926. Its condition is spotless, without any cracks neither repairs It is completely original, in every single part of the instrument, including its pegbox, varnish… EVERYTHING!
This is an instrument we have acquired, along with another one made by Ignacio Fleta in 1957, which will be for sale shortly. It comes from the descendants of its only owner, a great guitar lover who lives in the USA. He placed the order for this guitar personally, at Domingo Esteso´s workshop. This person must have been particularly special to Esteso, which would account for the fact that such high-quality woods were chosen for this guitar. In fact, we had never seen such extremely good and beautiful woods in his guitars.
Its sound is unrivalled, and some of its features can not be put into words. For instance, its scope, volumen or sweetness. SEEING IS BELIEVING. We can only tell you that, after trying this guitar, your concept of “sound quality” will change forever.
The guitar tension is mid-low, and the height of strings in saddle and fingerboard, perfectly balanced, so it is quite a comfortable guitar for both hands.
The condition of this classical guitar is excellent, being completely original and without any single kind of crack or repair whatsoever.
