Flamenco guitar Pedro Maldonado Especial 1985

This flamenco guitar as built by the maestro luthier Pedro Maldonado in his workshop in the Barriada de Sixto (Málaga). His guitars have been used by guitarists such as Merengue de Córdoba, Moraito Chico, Parrilla de Jerez, Manuel Cano…

This flamenco guitar belonged to the personal collection of the Cañete family. They ordered it from Pedro Maldonado to expose it in the flamenco guitar museum they intended to build. Unfortunately, this project never took place. In addition, the family had to sell one of the best collections in Spain. Many of these guitars are collected in the book ”IV SIGLOS DE GUITARRA – CATÁLOGO DE LA EXPOSICIÓN DE LA FAMILIA CAÑETE” (four centuries of guitar – catalogue of the Cañete family exposition), among which we can find this gem, this unique guitar, exclusively from the maker Pedro Maldonado.

The woods employed for this guitar are extraordinarily good. The german spruce top has got a very marked, straight and even grain.; the back and sides have been made with cypress wood of outstanding quality, having a very beautiful cut with an optimal seasoning process. The finishes and binding works with mother of pearl, along with the extraordinary quality of the woods of this beautiful guitar make this overall guitar a unique and exclusive instrument, raising it to the status of work of art.

The sound coming out of this guitar is just spectacular. It combines volume and quality excellently. The bass are powerful and deep, and the trebles, crystal clear and with a great scope. On balance, a real flamenco sound with its own distinctive personality.

This flamenco guitar has got medium tension, and a perfect height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance.

Its condition is excellent and completely original, without any cracks or repairs whatsoever.
