Flamenco guitar Víctor Quintanilla 10/2020

This flamenco guitar has been made by master luthier Víctor Quintanilla in 2020. Víctor Quintanilla is a luthier settled in Mijas, a beautiful and quaint small town in Malaga. Víctor Quintanilla studied carpentry in Escuela Franco (currently IES La Rosaleda, a high school), until his tutors put him in touch with the true maestro of the guitar making in Malaga, José Angel Chacón. Then, he would discover his true calling: the guitar. In 2019 he was awarded the First Prize of the Antonio Marín Montero III International Contest of Guitar Making, in Granada, organized by the European Guitar Foundation, in the discipline of flamenco guitar. When we see and listen to his guitars, their sound quality and power, the degree of perfection and refinement attained… all of it powerfully gets our attention, indeed. He is, no doubt, one of the best luthiers we hope to keep collaborating with, for a long time to come.

For the premiere of this new firm of Solera Flamenca we would not think of anything which is not thinking big, so… here you are: Yerai Cortés with the guitar of Víctor Quintanilla! (SEE NEW)

The wood used for the top is German spruce, and spanish Cypress for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty.

The sound of this guitar is really interesting. It has exceptional scope, which one does not easily find in a standard cypress guitar. It is much more common in rosewood guitars. As a result, a cypress guitars is not usually the best option for a concert, fitting best an accompaniment performance on stage. On this occasion we find a guitar with great sound width, really clear, as regards both trebles and bass strings, and with extraordinary harmonic capacity. Its special character coming out of the strumming is worth mentioning, to say the least. A perfect balance between bright and body, thus producing an unmistakeable feeling of being before the purest flamenco guitar.

The tension of the guitar is middle, and the height of the strings in saddle and fingerboard perfect, really balanced, which grants the performer a high degree of comfort for both hands.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is new.
