Sirs

Mr Miguel Llobet and Mr Federico Llobet

Vía Layetana Street, 46

Barcelona

Granada. 22-2-27

My dearest Miguel:

Was I grateful for your letter! I remember our trip in Switzerland so often!

It did take me some time to reply to you, as I have been behind schedule lately, after my last trips. To be specific, I am two months behind my plans. In fact, ever since I returned from Barcelona (where, as usual, I spent some unforgettable days), I have been barely able to resume my work as a composer!!

I will return to Barcelona at the beginning of next month. The concert will take place on the 17th. I hope you are there!! In case your return is close to that date, I am sending it to Federico, as well.

absolutely agree with you, regarding your opinion about Falstaff. [¡] It is simply extraordinary…and so Latin, Latin, Latin!

[¡]As regards my reconciliation with Brahms, this is something else, it has nothing to do with it.

I am most grateful for your programme Noches and your marginal note.

I owe much gratitude to Mengelberg, as well, for his interest in my works.

I will finish now, dear Miguel, as it is really late and I still have to correct some tests which must be ready tomorrow.

My Very Best Regards,

Manuel

Send my regards, as well, to Mr. Sharpe and to out quiet and old friend Schindler.

Addresser: Falla. Alhambra. Granada

On 26 April 1926 , El Retablo was represented with great success in Amsterdam, with Luis Buñuel and Willem Mengelberg as the orchestra and scene conductors, respectively, and on 20 June, in Zurich, at the Festival of National Society of Contemporary Music.

On 26 February 1927, Yehudi Menuhin made his debut in París aged only 10;
Nadia Boulanger coincided with her admired Manuel de Falla in the recital, and asked him about the violinist. Falla answered: “Yes, yes, I am impressed, he is a child prodigy, but I am even more impressed by the “seniors prodigy”: Verdi writing Falstaff, aged 80, surprises me more than Mozart composing his greatest works when he was 20”.

In Barcelona, on 17 Marzch, a «Falla Festival» took place, with the presence of the composer himself.

Falla would say farewell by sending regards to Mr. Sharpe and Kurt Schindler, an American composer estadounidense, born in Germany, and just like Mengelberg, an orchestra conductor.
