Sirs

Mr Miguel and Mr Federico Llobet

46 Vía Layetana Street

Barcelona

Granada, 7 February 1929

My Dearest friends Miguel and Federico:

Now, after reading the obituary you have sent me, I have learned of your disgrace, which I share, as I was really fond of this good man.

Mr Casimiro (who must be enjoying the good Lord) was one of these friends one can never forget, and, as long as you are concerned, you already know how deeply I respect you.

Also, I would like Anita, Miguelina and everybody else to take this letter as addressed to all of them, as well. Needless to say, please, receive an affectionate hug from María del Carmen.

For both of you, the warmest regards from your most faithful friend.

Manuel de Falla

Addresser: Falla. Alhambra. Granada

Casimiro Llobet was Joaquina Solés´s husband, and Miguel Llobet´s father. Miguel´s mother, Joaquina, dies in 1912, causing deep pain in his soul, as Emilio Pujol said in the guitarist´s biography. Casimiro was a carver and gilder, and had a store of religious statues. He died in 1929 and Miguel himself informed Falla about his passing through the obituary, which is replied by the composer by writing this letter.

Miguel Llobet married the pianist Ana Aguilar in 1907, and they had a daughter, Miguelina. Falla also sent them the most sincere condolences from Falla himself and his sister, María del Carmen.

Santiago Míguez de la Rosa, 16 December 2020.
